Wednesbury Tram works

What’s happening?

The works to complete the connection of the existing tram line with the new extension to Dudley and the reconstruction of Dudley Street Bridge are now complete.

Essential works to upgrade power systems now need to take place affecting some Sunday services during June and July 2024:

  • Sunday 2 June
  • Sunday 23 June
  • Sunday 14 July

From the start of service until midday:

  • Trams will operate up to every 12 minutes between Wolverhampton Station and Black Lake only.
  • There will be no services between Black Lake and Edgbaston Village.

From midday until the end of service:

  • Trams will operate up to every 12 minutes to all stops.

Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the following alternative transport options:

National Express bus services:

  • 79 between Wednesbury and West Bromwich.
  • 74 between West Bromwich and Birmingham.

Travel tips

You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:

Your Metro ticket is accepted. on many alternative bus routes and rail services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham
Plan Ahead. Consider your alternative options using the TfWM Journey Planner and the MyMetro App
For shorter journeys:. Walk, scoot or cycle to your destination especially if you are travelling within town/city centres.
Think twice before driving. Could you get the train or the bus to your destination?
